System Preferences - Keyboard and Mouse

The keyboard and mouse preferences allows you to configure how the keyboard and mouse (or trackpad) work.

To set keyboard options


Click the Keyboard Tab

Key Repeat Rates sets how fast a key repeats when it is held down.
Delay Until Repeat sets how long a key must be pressed before it starts to repeat.
You can test your settings by typing in the test field box.


To set mouse speeds


Click the Mouse Tab

Tracking speed sets the speed of the mouse movement on your screen.
Double Click Speed sets the amount of time between each click of a double click. You can test your settings in the test area.


To set keyboard shortcuts


Click the Keyboard Shortcuts Tab

Check or uncheck the box next to each shortcut to enable or disable it.
To change the keys associated with a shortcut, click the shortcut to select it, and then hold down the new keys for the shortcut to change it.
To access onscreen items with the keyboard, check the box next to turn on full keyboard access.
